People who survived the killing on All Burma Students’ Democratic Front ABSDF members in Kachin State in 1992 started to campaign for 10,000 signatories to give justice to the victims of this heinous crime and face punishment for those responsible for the massacre.

During a press conference held at Dakinayama Monastery on the 9th of September, KoNyiNyi said that campaign organizers will furnish copy of the petitioners to President U Thein Sein, Daw Aung San SuuKyi and Thura U Shwe Mann before the end of October, Myanmar Times reported.

They asked the government of Myanmar to create a separate team of investigators to look into the incident.
Around 100 members of the ABSBF (Northern Burma) were arrested and were charged by authorities of spying for Military Intelligence. During the Union Day in 1992, fifteen were put to death, 19 were tortured which resulted also to their untimely death. Fortunately the rest of the members made a great escape from ABSDF’s Northern Burma camp in Kachin State near the Chinese border.

In the meantime, the campaign organizers are planning to jointly sue the people who were behind the killings. They stated that they are not asking for any remuneration or asking that these perpetrators languish in jail but justice must be served to those who perished in this unpleasant incident and the truth must prevail.

The family of Tun Aung Kyaw, a former ABSDF (Northern Burma) leader who was executed in 1992 filed charges against Dr Naing Aung only to learned that he will not be included in the case.

Cases have been filed separately by people who persistently want justice to prevail. They are encouraging those families left behind by those victims to join the lawsuit as plaintiffs. About 30 survivors are staying in Mandalay, Myanmar Times report said.
Ronald Aung Naing, Than Zaw, who was the head of intelligence at the ABSDF (Northern Burma), and Dr Aung Naing, who inspected the site where the execution happened, were included as respondents in the lawsuit.

Ko Nyi Nyi added that lawyer Ko Aung Htoo, along with other central committee members of the southern branch, will also be included in the suit since he is responsible in signing a document confirming that the ABSDF’s Northern Burma branch came under their jurisdiction, Ko Nyi Nyi said.

Around100 journalists participated in the press conference and many people who are eager to know the incident participated also. A lot of questions were asked from the survivors regarding issues about Military Intelligence, the report said.
