Dear Friends and Supporters,

Today, Burma's military generals are holding the country's first elections in 20 years. Unfortunately, instead of allowing for the development of genuine democratic progress, the regime has dominated, restricted and manipulated the entire election process.

In the lead up to the elections, Burma Partnership has developed Burma Election Tracker, a comprehensive election map that sources information from exile media, inside networks, personal interviews and citizen reports. Incident reports on Burma Election Tracker lend evidence to criticisms of the election process; the hundreds of incident reports collected even before the day of elections highlight the systematic and widespread scale of election violations to date. The unfree and unfair election process has already ensured that the elections will not reflect the will of the people of Burma.

Today, on the day of elections, we invite you to monitor the elections through the Burma Election Tracker website here. Information will be constantly updated on the site, with new stories, data, and images pouring in by the hour. We will continue to monitor developments as they occur over the next few weeks.

In Solidarity,

Burma Partnership Secretariat
