I am working with some activists to urge the government of Canada to remind the Burmese regime to ensure the safety of honourary Canadian citizen Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, also to invite her to visit Canada to accept the honourary Canadian Citizen award in person.

Daw Suu may decide not to come now even if Canada invites but it will send a strong signal to the regime that Canada cares about her safety. Our objective is to send strong signals to the regime that ASSK receives the highest respect from Canada and the international community, and seriously concern about her safety. She is the key figure in the democratic process and national reconciliation in Burma, her safety is our main concern.

Please see the attached file for the letter. You simply copy / paste and email it to Minister Cannon at Cannon.L@parl.gc.ca or print and mail the signed letter to the Minister. Feel free to modify the letter if you wish.

I would like to request you to act as soon as possible and encourage family members / friends to do the same. We can do it as individuals and organizations. The more the merrier.

This Summer, we coordinated a successful letter campaign with your help prior to G8 summit in Canada. We were able to submit over 2,000 petitions to the Government of Canada and we achieve the goal, Canada included the Burmese in the summit agenda and able to mention strong message in the summit declaration.  Let's do it again for DASSK and the people of Burma.

Thank you very much.
