• Dear friends and colleagues, We would like to take this opportunity to invite you, your friends and your family to attend the fourth anniversary of the Australia-Burma Society. This upcoming Annual General Meeting of ABS is a free public meeting that opens to all whether member or non-member can attend and participate in the discussion. The Australia-Burma Society was formed on the 9th of Novem ber 2008 aimed at achieving the following mission statement. Australia-Burma Society (ABS) is a registered not-for-profit, community-based, member-driven association that aims to support communities from Burma, especially recently arrived refugee and humanitarian entrants, to adapt to Australian life and integrate into the community by working in collaboration with government departments and agencies, service-providers and local communities. Vision To improve the lives of people from Burma in their resettlement in Australia Mission 1 To assist and support in resettling newly arrived families and individuals from Burma by providing necessary life skills and training 2 To encourage and provide leadership development opportunities for the next generation of young people, as well as promote their health, welfare, mental and emotional wellbeing through education, sports and recreational activities 3 To establish and maintain a healthy relationship with all levels of government departments, service providers and the local communities 4 To promote traditional cultures as well as exchange and learn from the diversity within the Australian community Values * Respect * Openness * Inclusiveness * Diversity * Celebration It will be very helpful if you could please pass this warm invitation onto other networks that you may associate or affiliate with.
