As most of the world has already seen the political upheavals and the abhorrent state within the country of Burma, there is still a civil war th...at exists today within the Northern State of Burma.
There are almost 70,000 Kachin Internally Displaced Persons-IDPs along the China border due to long 9 months of this civil war conflict between the Burmese army and the Kachin Independence army within the Kachin State. Kachin villagers in far mountainous regions are fleeing to the China border in fear of Burmese soldiers raping, torturing, forcing porters, and killing these innocent victims.
Most of these civil war victims are now living temporarily in impoverished camps along the China border side. Their tents cannot withstand and survive during the cold winter, windy summers and the rainy season. No international aid has been able to arrive due to the tight restraints of the Burmese government. There is hardly any food available, the children are suffering, these people are in a dire need for YOUR help.
If a civil war were to happen in Canada, it would be all over the news. If a civil war occurs in a country with such an oppressive government, nobody knows, as intended. We can't help everyone but at least we will be helping someone in need.
And so the Kachin people of Toronto are hosting a Fundraising Charity Concert on Saturday, April 21st 2012 to help out the IDPs within the Kachin State.
