The Burmese authority allowed envoys from Thailand, Singapore and Russia to meet Suu Kyi in a house in the compound of Insein prison, he said."We praise the decision by the Myanmar (Burma)'s government to allow the diplomats and media representative to attend the trail and meet her," Kasit told reporters. Aung San Suu Kyi told diplomats after her trial Wednesday that she was fine and she did not have any connection with John Yettaw, an American who swam across the Inya Lake to her residence, the minister said. However she allowed him to stay for three nights at her residence for humanitarian reason, he said. Aung San Suu Kyi together with two companions and Yettaw were charged over violation of her house arrest condition. They would face five years imprisonment if convicted. The junta detained them in two separate houses in the prison's compound, not the cells, Kasit said. Burma chose Thai envoy because Thailand was Asean chair, Singapore as the dean of diplomats and Russia as representative of the United Nations Security Council. Kasit said he conveyed message to Suu Kyi concerning over her health and hoped she would be freed as well as participated in the national reconciliation. The Asean was not surprised at the junta's decision and pleased to see the trail was open to the international community, Kasit said. "But that is not enough, the ultimate goal is to have all political prisoners released and national reconciliation," he said. by Supalak GanjanakhundeeThe Nation
