ဟြန္ဒ်ဴးရပ္စ္ႏိုင္ငံတြင္ ၿငိမ္းခ်မ္းတဲ့ေတာ္လွန္ေရးလႈပ္ရွားမႈဟာ (၂၀၀၉ ခုႏိုဝင္ဘာ ၂၉) ေ႐ြးေကာက္ပြဲကို မဲမေပးပဲ ေအာင္ျမင္စြာ သပိတ္ေမွာက္ႏိုင္ခဲ့ပါတယ္။ "ျပည္သူတုိ႔ရဲ႕ မတရားတဲ့အမိန္႔ မနာခံျခင္း စီမံကိန္း" အရ ဟြန္ဒ်ဴးရပ္စ္ ျပည္သူမ်ားစြာက ေရာ္ဘတ္တုိ မစ္ခ်ဲလက္တီရဲ႕ အာဏာသိမ္းအစုိးရကုိ ဆန္႔က်င္တဲ့ အေနနဲ႔ မဲမေပးပဲေနခဲ့ၾကပါတယ္။
၂၀၀၉ ခုဇြန္လ ၂၈ ရက္ေန႔ အာဏာသိမ္းခဲ့ခ်ိန္မွစကာ "ၿငိမ္းခ်မ္းတဲ့ေတာ္လွန္ေရး အမ်ဳိးသားတပ္ဦး" ကုိ ဟြန္ဒ်ဴးရပ္စ္အတုိက္အခံမ်ားကဖြဲ႕စည္းခဲ့ပါတယ္။ ထုိတပ္ဦးက မတရားအမိန္႔မ်ားမနာခံမႈ နည္းမ်ဳိးစုံျဖင့္ ေ႐ြးေကာက္ပြဲကုိ သိပိတ္ေမွာက္ခဲ့ၾကပါတယ္။ ထုိေ႐ြးေကာက္ပြဲကုိ အေမရိကတုိက္ႏိုင္ငံမ်ားစြာက အသိ အမွတ္မျပဳၾကပါဘူး။ ထုိေ႐ြးေကာက္ပြဲဟာ ဖြဲ႕စည္းပုံအေျခခံဥပေဒကုိျပဳျပင္ရန္ အမ်ားေတာင္းဆုိထား ၾကတဲ့ မဲဆႏၵမ်ားကုိလ်စ္လ်ဴ႐ႈထားလ်က္ အာဏာသိမ္းအုပ္ခ်ဳပ္သူမ်ားရဲ႕ အရာ႐ွိမ်ားသာပါဝင္ေစခဲ့တာပါ။
ေ႐ြးေကာက္ပြဲက်င္းပစဥ္မွာ လြတ္လပ္တဲ့တသီးပုဂၢလေလ့လာသူမ်ားက အင္တာနက္မ်ားမွတဆင့္ သတင္းမ်ား မွ်ေဝေပးခဲ့ပါတယ္။
သမၼတ မဲန္ႏ်ဴရယ္ ဖယ္လာယာ က "ယေန႔ေ႐ြးေကာက္ပြဲတြင္ အခ်ဳိ႕ေနရာမ်ားမွာ မဲလာမေပးသူ ၈၀% အထိ ႐ွိခဲ့ေၾကာင္း၊ ေ႐ြးေကာက္ပြဲ မေအာင္ျမင္ေၾကာင္း" ေၾကညာခဲ့ပါတယ္။(မဲလာမေပးသူ ပ်မ္းမွ် ၆၀% ႐ိွခဲ့ပါတယ္။) အျပည္ျပည္ဆုိင္ရာအဖြဲ႕အစည္းမ်ားနဲ႔ အေမရိကန္အေျခစုိက္လႈပ္႐ွားသူမ်ားက ဟြန္ဒ်ဴးရပ္စ္ႏိုင္ငံ ေ႐ြးေကာက္ပြဲ ဟာ မွ်တတဲ့အေျခအေနမ်ားမ႐ွိေၾကာင္းသတိေပးခဲ့ပါတယ္။ ႏိုဝင္ဘာ ၂၉ ရက္ေန႔ေ႐ြးေကာက္ပြဲမွာ လြတ္လပ္ မွ်တတဲ့ ေ႐ြးေကာက္ပြဲအတြက္ အေျခခံလုိအပ္ခ်က္မ်ား ျဖစ္ေပၚႏိုင္ေျခမ႐ိွေၾကာင္း ကၽြန္မေျပာႏိုင္ပါတယ္လုိ႔ ဟြန္ဒ်ဴးရပ္စ္မွေလ့လာၿပီးျပန္လာတဲ့ လက္တင္အေမရိကေဆာင္႐ြက္ေရးအဖြဲ႕မွ လစၥာ ေဟာင္းဂတ္ က ဆုိပါ တယ္။
ဟြန္ဒ်ဴးရပ္စ္မွာ အာဏာသိမ္းအုပ္ခ်ဳပ္မႈကုိ ေတာ္လွန္ၾကတဲ့ လူငယ္မ်ား၊ အမ်ဳိးသမီးမ်ား၊ အႏုပညာသမားမ်ား၊ ေ႐ွ႕ေနမ်ား၊ ႏိုင္ငံေရးေခါင္းေဆာင္မ်ား၊ ကဲန္ပိန္းလႈပ္႐ွားသူမ်ားစတဲ့ အလႊာစုံမွျပည္သူမ်ားက ေကာင္းမြန္တဲ့ အေၾကာင္းျပခ်က္မ်ားနဲ႔ ေ႐ြးေကာက္ပြဲကုိသပိတ္ေမွာက္ၾကပါတယ္။

Canada Concerned by Dissolution of Political Parties in Burma
(No. 298 – September 16, 2010 – 7:30 p.m. ET) The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today issued the following statement in response to the official dissolution of ten political parties in Burma, including the National League for Democracy (NLD) led by Aung San Suu Kyi, and reports that certain regions of the country will be barred from participating in the electoral process:
"Canada is disappointed that Burma's military regime has reached a new low in its failure to live up to its democratic promises. The dissolution of the NLD and nine other political parties further illustrates the regime's systematic disregard for the basic principles of democracy.
"Canada has consistently expressed concerns that the upcoming Burmese elections, scheduled for November 7, will be held under oppressive conditions. We continue to call on the regime to live up to its commitments to hold free and fair elections by unconditionally releasing all political prisoners, including Aung San Suu Kyi, by engaging in genuine dialogue with members of the democratic opposition and the various ethnic groups within Burma, and by enabling full democratic participation in the election process.
"Canada has long-standing concerns about the human rights situation in Burma. We have imposed the toughest sanctions in the world against the Burmese regime to indicate our condemnation of the regime's disregard for human rights and its repression of the country's democratic elements.
"Canada is working closely with like-minded countries to advance human rights and democracy in Burma. We support civil society and independent media in Burma, which are seeking to make the Burmese people more aware of their democratic rights, and are working toward the realization of a true democratic system. We welcome the courage and commitment to a pluralist democracy by those Burmese who are attempting, despite severe restrictions, to stand as candidates for independent political parties.

Statement on the 22nd Anniversary of the Military Takeover of Burma
(September 18, 1988)
On this day twenty two years ago, a military regime staged a bloody coup ending the peaceful protests by the people demanding an end to one-party rule and restore democracy in Burma. The military's response was brutal and violent resulting in thousands of people killed and many imprisoned. However, the military regime declared it would hold multi-party elections and restore state power to the people.
However, the people's dream never came true though the National League for Democracy (NLD) secured 82% of the people's votes. Many elected personnel and even members of the NLD were arrested, tortured and given imprisonments not to mention many killed in detention and prisons.
The failed and mismanaged economy drove the people to poverty and destitute. The military run economy did not take into account the people's welfare much less wellbeing, but empower the army and increase oppression on the people only. The unwarranted and unnecessary growth of the armed forces personnel reached 500,000 men.
To lessen increasing international and internal pressure on worsening human rights record, and failing to take steps for democratization, the regime introduced the seven-step road map to the world community. Disregarding EU and the US's skepticism, UN has ignored to put relevant and substantial pressure on the regime to honor the fact Daw Suu led NLD winning the 1990 elections most importantly and cited it as instrumental to get the country moving on the right track.
The UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon eventually told the press Than Shwe's election to enshrine his military dominated constitution is right and relevant. However, due to lack of credibility and fairness the NLD had walked out of the constitutional convention since the day one.
The military regime ended up claiming the 2008 constitution garnered 90 percent approval rate in the national referendum held shortly in the wake of the Cyclone Nargis that devastated the country in May 2008. Ban Ki-Moon bought the ruse (goose) and echoed the regime's seven step road map was perfect and going in the right direction.
The constitution rendered the commander in chief the right to reserve 25 percent of seats for military representatives in both houses of parliament. And bars persons married to aliens from the president post in addition to presidents with military experience. Thus, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was quarantined from taking office and deprived of becoming the president of the country since day one.
Taoday, the regime's Election Commission (EC) officially declared the dissolution of 10 political parties, including the winning party National League for Democracy (NLD) citing failing to fulfill their obligation. The rest of the registered parties are facing severe restrictions and intimidations except the regime run party the USDA; the state media claimed all ten parties are banned from taking any form of political activity as well.
Hence, under prevailing circumstances we have none but to fight on our own to restore freedom and democracy in Burma and enjoy real independence as well. The first and fundamental step for us in that direction is to confront our own "fear" and coolly face the reality at hand by all means while keeping in mind the brutal regime is all set to rule the country no matter what.
The folly of the regime's way to democracy, bound to lead the people all the way down to hell, would not solve the country's problems as we believed. Even a repeat or replica of Ne Win's rule would not serve the purpose other than escalating the economic down turn, social injustices, human rights violations, in turn leading to an inevitable social upheaval sooner rather than later.
Whether the dictators around the world like it or not democracy that guarantees the power to the people is the only vehicle to carry the country forward to happier and brighter days for the citizenry ahead as well.
As long as the regime keeps mumbling democracy mantra, taking relevant steps to implement the process non-violent struggle is the only avenue to achieve our aim. Mahatma Gandhi said, "Without a direct action expression of it, nonviolence, to my mind, is meaningless." Let's not stop nor question about it. Under no circumstance should we pause, much less stop in our tracks after traveling thus far. The consistent and collective movements on our part would stand us in good stead to meet the challenges ahead. Remember, victory wouldn't come overnight.
While marking this momentous 22nd anniversary of our struggle against military rule in Burma and an inglorious milestone of our nation, we hereby vow to continue our fight to restore freedom and democracy in our country in solidarity and solemnly holding hands with the people of Burma.

၀ါရင့္ႏိုင္ငံေရးသမားႀကီး သခင္အုန္းျမင့္ ကြယ္လြန္
၀ါရင့္ႏိုင္ငံေရးသမားႀကီးတဦးျဖစ္သည့္ သခင္အုန္းျမင့္ အသက္ (၉၃) ႏွစ္သည္ ယေန႔နံနက္ (၄) နာရီခြဲအခ်ိန္တြင္ ရန္ကင္းၿမိဳ႕နယ္၊ ကမာၻေအး၊ သုခ၀တီလမ္း၊ အမွတ္ ၃ (ဘီ) ေနအိမ္၌ လူႀကီးေရာဂါျဖင့္ ကြယ္လြန္သြားၿပီျဖစ္သည္။
သခင္အုန္းျမင့္၏ သားျဖစ္သူ ဦးညီက "ျဖစ္တာေတာ့ ၾကာပါၿပီ။ လူႀကီးပဲ တျဖည္းျဖည္းဆုတ္တာေပါ့ဗ်ာ။ (၉၃) ႏွစ္ဆိုေတာ့လည္း။ နည္းနည္းေလး အိပ္ရာထဲမွာလဲေနတာေတာ့ တလေလာက္ရိွၿပီ။ လူႀကီးနာပါပဲ။ ဒီေန႔မနက္ (၄) နာရီခြဲမွာ ဆုံးသြားတာပါ" ဟု ေျပာၾကားသည္။
