Last year I was approached by the BBC to be an independent consultant for a Burmese media project, and I did send them some assessments etc. But then I got the message below and discovered that RAN has managed to become the local coordinator for a conference which will be held here in Chiang Mai this coming Wednesday. So I sent in my resignation, and, to the organisers in London, copies of articles about him and what he did in Kachin State back in the early 1990s. I am still waiting for a response from the BBC. Hope you are all ready for some more training from Sunday this week! We are looking forward to working with you again and welcome some new trainees as well. This time you will meet Samantha Barry, a journalist and media trainer based at BBC Media Action and BBC World News in London. Win Naing Oo joins as the lead producer from the new Lin Lat Kyair Sin show that we produce in partnership with BBC Burmese. Hopefully you will all get a chance to get involved in the show and hear from those who have contributed already.
The training will be 3.5 days starting Sunday 27th May at 11 am – 5pm. On Monday and Tuesday we will aim to start at 9am – 5pm, and on Wednesday the training will finish at 1pm.

- Presenting skills ( natural presenting and recording of links)
- Youth broadcasting ( knowing your audience and tailoring your story/recording to suit them)
- Vox Pop skills ( fast, snappy and to the point)
- Recording a package ( how to tell a story through a package using interviews, sound effects and links)
- Multi-platform journalists (learning how to take photos , videos and use social media as part of your story)
- Journalists as talking heads ( learning to articulate on air for your audience the story you have been covering, observations, analysis- taking your reporting to the next level)
- From our correspondent ( using your creativity to tell a story in an audio postcard)
- Originating a story ( following leads, polling the public)
- Round table discussions ( moderating a round table and choosing a balanced group of guests)

Last year I was approached by the BBC to be an independent consultant for a Burmese media project, and I did send them some assessments etc. But then I got the message below and discovered that RAN has managed to become the local coordinator for a conference which will be held here in Chiang Mai this coming Wednesday. So I sent in my resignation, and, to the organisers in London, copies of articles about him and what he did in Kachin State back in the early 1990s. I am still waiting for a response from the BBC. This time you will meet Samantha Barry, a journalist and media trainer based at BBC Media Action and BBC World News in London. Win Naing Oo joins as the lead producer from the new Lin Lat Kyair Sin show that we produce in partnership with BBC Burmese. Hopefully you will all get a chance to get involved in the show and hear from those who have contributed already.
The training will be 3.5 days starting Sunday 27th May at 11 am – 5pm. On Monday and Tuesday we will aim to start at 9am – 5pm, and on Wednesday the training will finish at 1pm.

- Originating a story ( following leads, polling the public)
- Round table discussions ( moderating a round table and choosing a balanced group of guests)

Hi there. You may be pleased to hear that the BBC just rang me to say that Ronald Aung Naing has been sacked. He will not be allowed to participate in any further activities relating to the BBC's media training programme in Thailand and Burma. The BBC will also send a letter to RAN explaining why the BBC has severed all relations with him, and to the donors (which have provided support for the programme, and that includes the US State Department) as well.
