VBSW was formed with 18 members on 29-8-1999. On 1-9-1999 the member
strength increased to 24. It was headed by Kyaw Oo of Dagundaing
village where God's Children Army had a base. It was comprised with
San Naing (alias) Ye Thiha, Min Lwin, Kyaw Oo (alias) Johnny, Hla
Aung, Aung Kyaw San, Ko Latt, Kyaw Naing, Tint Lwin Oo, Thant Zaw Oo,
Nawngkhan, Myint Thein (alias) Beda, Min Min Oo, Ye Thu Naing
(Australia), Tin Khet (Japan), Aung Soe, Cho Tu, Myo Myint, Than Htay
(Canada), Kyaw Zin, Myat Aung Kyaw, Thiha, Min Naing (America), San
Win and Maung Htwe.
The Vigorous Burmese Student Warriors: (Burmese: ျမန္မာေက်ာင္းသားစစ္သည္ေတာ္မ်ားအဖြဲ ့) abbreviated VBSW) is an organization opposed to the ruling military junta in Burma. Considered by some a terrorist organization, in October 1999 they gained notoriety by raiding and holding hostages at the consulate of Burma in Bangkok, Thailand.
Since the thwarted 1990 elections in Burma, many former student radicals have fled the country into neighboring Thailand. In August 1999, the VBSW formed as a branch organization opposed to the strategy of peaceful protest of the All Burma Students Democratic Front. On October 1, 1999, a group of five members raided the Burmese consulate in Bangkok and took 89 people hostage. The group demanded that negotiations be opened between the National League for Democracy and the Burmese government, and that a Parliament be convened based on the results of the 1990 election. However, they soon relaxed their demands and began to let the hostages go, and the Thai government eventually allowed the VBSW members to flee by helicopter to the border with Burma.[1]
ျမန္မာျပည္ေအးေဆးသြားမယ္ဆိုခဲ့ရင္ ေက်ာ္ေက်ာ္ဦး (Johny) ကိစၥကို ဦးျမင့္သိန္းနဲ ့ ဆရာမန္းၿငိမ္းေမာင္တို ့ သတင္းစာရွင္းလင္းပြဲ ျမန္မာႏိုင္ငံမွာ တရား၀င္လုပ္ေပးၾကပါလို ့ က်ေနာ္ေတာင္းဆိုလိုက္ပါတယ္......သူငယ္ခ်င္းတို ့လည္း မေမ့ၾကနဲ ့ေနာ္ ...က်ေနာ္တို ့ သူငယ္ခ်င္းအတြက္ အေရးၾကီးတယ္.. သူက အသက္ေပးလိုက္ရတာ....(၈၈)ေက်ာင္းသားစစ္စစ္ဗ်...အထူးသျဖင့္ (၃၈)ေယာက္မွာ ပိုတာ၀န္ရွိတယ္....
